Attorney Shields is the Managing Partner of the firm. In addition to his administrative tasks, he maintains an active trial and appellate litigation practice. While his practice is varied, his experience with corporate and business matters is often called into play. He was formerly the Assistant City Attorney for the city of Milford, Connecticut.

Attorney Shields has been appointed by the Court to serve as Special Master for the Connecticut Superior Court from 1995-1999, and currently as Attorney Trial-Referee and Fact Finder/Arbitrator for the Connecticut Superior Court.

Also involved in legal publishing, Attorney Shields formerly co-authored the Connecticut Practice Book Annotated, Vol I and IA (West Pub. Co. annually from 1989 to 2001) with Wesley W. Horton and Kimberly A. Knox.
